Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly professional, mature, and intelligent individual to lead the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) function at our Ambernath manufacturing site. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter with exceptional communication and organizational skills, and a proven ability to support senior leadership.
The EHS Manager will play a critical role in ensuring a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. This position demands strategic leadership in implementing safety protocols, maintaining regulatory compliance with national and international standards, and driving continuous improvement across all EHS domains—aligned with our commitment to quality, innovation, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safety of all personnel, plant, and machinery through robust safety practices.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory bodies including DISH, MPCB, Ministry of Environment & Forest, CCOE, MIDC, and Fire Department.
- Prepare and submit statutory reports to government authorities.
- Oversee the operation and compliance of the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP).
- Secure licenses and approvals from relevant government and semi-government agencies.
- Coordinate maintenance and inspection fire safety systems including hydrants and extinguishers; conduct employee training.
- Conduct internal environment, health and safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
- Participate in the cross site internal audit program to improve group EHS performance
- Coordinate EHS audit from third parties such as customers, insurance companies, authorities …
- Investigate industrial accidents, dangerous occurrences (Rule 115), and occupational diseases (Rule 116).
- Advise on PPE procurement and ensure availability of high-quality protective gear.
- Lead and advise safety committees; organize safety campaigns and awareness programs.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs independently or with external/internal trainers.
- Prepare and maintain the site’s Emergency Response Plan and Safety Manual.
- Draft and update SOPs related to EHS operations.
- Conduct regular environmental monitoring and hazardous waste management.
- Ensure GxP compliance in all EHS-related activities.
- Implement chemical handling protocols and ensure safe storage and usage.
- Maintain audit readiness for internal and external inspections.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed EHS into operational processes.
- Support site Leadership Team for implementing group EHS objectives according to the group EHS and sustainability program
Coordinate ISO 14001/ISO 45001/ ISO 50001 site certification and maintenance audits
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Industrial Safety, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of EHS experience in similar position in pharmaceutical/chemical manufacturing.
- In-depth knowledge of Maharashtra Factories Rules, 1963 and other applicable regulations.
- Proven experience in handling audits and regulatory inspections.
- Proven experience with ISO14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 standards
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in preparing safety documentation and emergency plans.
Preferred Qualifications (Add-ons):
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or NEBOSH certification.
- Experience with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 standards.
- Familiarity with global EHS standards and sustainability initiatives.
- Experience in implementing digital EHS management systems.
- Exposure to cross-site or global EHS coordination.
