Position Overview:
The Assistant Manager – Finance & Accounts plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, statutory compliance, and operational integrity within a regulated pharmaceutical/API manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting import–export finance activities, coordinating with banks and statutory authorities, and ensuring adherence to GST, TDS, EOU, and other regulatory requirements.
The role also supports internal and external audits, strengthens financial controls, participates in plant finance activities, and contributes to management reporting. By collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams such as Procurement, Production, Supply Chain, and QA/QC, the Assistant Manager ensures seamless financial governance aligned with manufacturing, GMP documentation expectations, and corporate financial policies.
A successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in accounting, taxation, and compliance, combined with hands‑on experience in pharma manufacturing finance, import documentation, and audit preparation. This role demands integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to manage time‑critical responsibilities in a dynamic regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting & Financial Record Management
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date Books of Accounts including ledgers, journals, vouchers, and financial records in line with accounting standards and internal controls.
Perform vouching and verification of import purchase invoices with purchase orders, shipping documents, Bill of Entry, and GRN to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Manage daily accounting transactions and support reconciliations of bank accounts, vendor accounts, and statutory ledgers.
2. Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
Prepare and process documentation for local and import vendor payments, ensuring compliance with credit terms and regulatory norms.
Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to resolve discrepancies in invoices, documents, or payment schedules.
3. Banking, Foreign Trade & EOU Compliance
Liaise with banks for daily financial operations including IDPMS/EDPMS updates, import remittances, export realization, GR waiver, Letter of Credit, and Bank Guarantee requirements.
Ensure smooth handling of all import–export documentation and compliance as per DGFT, Customs, and RBI guidelines.
Manage statutory requirements and documentation under 100% EOU operations, including bond registers, procurement compliance, and periodic submissions.
4. Statutory Compliance & Taxation
Ensure timely computation, payment, and filing of GST (GSTR‑3B, GSTR‑2B reconciliation), TDS, and other statutory returns, maintaining complete accuracy and audit‑readiness.
Support VAT, GST, and Income Tax assessments through preparation of relevant schedules, reconciliations, and submissions.
Maintain complete statutory compliance documentation required for pharmaceutical manufacturing and export-driven operations.
5. Audit Coordination & Internal Controls
Prepare and support various audits including Internal Audit, Statutory Audit, GST Audit, EOU/Customs Audit, and GST Refund Audit by ensuring availability of accurate schedules and documentation.
Strengthen internal controls and SOPs across accounting, taxation, and plant finance processes to ensure adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.
6. Plant Finance Support & Costing (Pharma/Manufacturing Environment)
Assist in plant-level financial reporting, cost center accounting, and monthly MIS preparation to support production, procurement, and operational teams.
Support inventory valuation, WIP/FG reconciliation, and manufacturing cost analyses in collaboration with plant finance and operations.
Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities and support periodic variance analysis to ensure financial discipline.
7. Regulatory & Departmental Coordination
Visit offices of Banks, GST, Income Tax, DGFT, and Customs for submission of documents, query resolution, and closure of statutory requirements.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams including procurement, logistics, QA/QC, and production to ensure seamless compliance and documentation flow.
8. Management Reporting
Assist in preparation of monthly management reports, dashboards, and financial analyses to support leadership decision‑making.
Provide timely and accurate financial insights into operations, imports/exports, cash flows, and statutory positions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Educational Qualification
M.Com / Inter CA / CA (preferred for manufacturing and regulated industry roles).
Additional certification in Indirect Taxation, EXIM procedures, or SAP FI/CO is an advantage.
Professional Experience
8–12 years of experience in Accounts & Finance, preferably within a pharmaceutical, API, chemical, or regulated manufacturing environment.
Strong exposure to import/export finance, banking operations, and statutory compliance workflows.
Hands-on experience managing audits, statutory filings, and plant-level accounting processes.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards (Ind-AS), accounting principles, and financial controls.
Expertise in GST (GSTR-3B, 2B reconciliations), TDS, and statutory tax compliance.
Experience with 100% EOU regulations, Customs compliance, DGFT processes, IDPMS/EDPMS, export realization, and import documentation.
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred), vendor payment modules, and general ledger functions.
Strong command of Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, reconciliations, pivot tables, data analysis).
Compliance & Audit Skills
Solid experience in supporting Internal Audit, Statutory Audit, GST Audit, and EOU/Customs audits.
Ability to maintain audit-ready documentation in line with GMP-style accuracy and traceability.
Knowledge of regulatory reporting norms relevant to pharma manufacturing.
Analytical & Financial Skills
Strong reconciliation skills across ledgers, banks, vendor accounts, and statutory registers.
Ability to analyze financial data, variances, cost elements, and provide meaningful MIS inputs.
Understanding cost accounting, inventory valuation, and plant finance concepts is beneficial.
Soft Skills & Behavioral Competencies
Excellent communication skills for interacting with bankers, auditors, and statutory officers.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and process discipline.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with tight timelines.
